Samsung officially launches its Galaxy S5

After many days of waiting, fans of Samsung new technology now can see the world's most prestigious Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S̀5.

At 2am on February 25 at the Unpacked 5 event within the framework of MWC 2014, Samsung officially launched its Galaxy S5. Unlike their previous launches, this launch of S5 might disappoint you more than cheer you on.

Samsung Galaxy S5 offers no outstanding improvements as users might expect for a fantastic product. It features the Super AMOLED 5.1 inch screen, Full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.5 Ghz CPU, 2 GB RAM, 16/32 GB (microSD), The camera has been upgraded with 4K video capabilities. It operates on the 2800 mAh battery and runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

The Galaxy S5's cover is most disappointing feature. Samsung has replaced the Galaxy S4’s slimy, glossy plastic battery cover with a dimpled soft-touch finish. The new design looks less modern and similar to the back of the original Google Nexus 7 or the legendary Nokia line released in 2012.

Samsung has retained the familiar metal-looking plastic surround on the Galaxy S5. Notable changes include: the charging port (now USB 3.0) comes with an integrated port cover for waterproofing and a new flash LED heart-rate sensor on its back. Along with that, Samsung swapped out the menu key into App Switcher key for switching of applications.

Samsung just gave a very brief introduction of its Galaxy S5 at the Unpacked 5 event, in less than 5 minutes but spent most of the time talking about the new features of the product. They seem like to infer that S5 is just an upgrade on features rather than a breakthrough on the device.

Rumors are true as the Galaxy S5 is upgraded with the unlock fingerprint sensor in the Home key. However, users have to manually scan vertically rather than just make one touch like Apple's Touch ID.

Dozens of additional features on the S5 include: Wi-Fi technology, Download Booster application that raise the download speed up to 400 Mbps, an improved camera with large aperture, bigger sensor, faster autofocus speed, real time HDR for photo and video shooting, Selective Focus, IP67 water resistant capacity, Ultra Power saving battery mod, simplified interface, privacy mode, Kids mode for kids, S Health (for heart rate motoring).

Finally, Samsung said they will sell Galaxy S5 in nearly 150 countries and territories as from 11 April at the not yet to be announced price and with 4 color options including white, black, blue and bronze. However, the projection screen used to broadcast the event ran the very clear words: "Samsung Unpacked 5 Espisode 1", which means that this was only part 1 and we might expect part 2 of the event with a different device.
